- New hydraulic oil, straight from the container, has a typical ISO
cleanliness level of 21/16. A 25 GPM pump, operating continuously in
this dirty oil, will pump 3,500 pounds of dirt through the systems
components each year.
Filtering new oil to ISO 14/11, or better, as it enters the tank is a
must for extending machinery life. Filtering the oil as it enters the
tank, also prevents sand and other debris from falling off the lip
around the top of cans from entering your hydraulic systems.
- Maintaining a fluid cleanliness level of ISO 14/11, will double
the time between breakdowns compared to a fluid cleanliness level of
ISO 16/ 13. This is based on a three year study of 117 mobil and
industrial hydraulic machines conducted by the British Hydromechanics
Research Association. By installing filtration that will maintain your
systems to ISO 14/11, Machinery Maintenance for Extended life can
double the life of your hydraulic systems, gear boxes and engines.
